Position Overview
Tourism Technology is the developer of the Calypso Travel System used by Australia's leading Travel Wholesalers.
The Calypso Travel System (or "Calypso" as we call it) is a suite of applications that supports many aspects of a travel wholesalers business. Calypso consists of a number of key components using a range of technologies, from web applications, to XML APIs to native Unix interfaces. We don't expect a new starter to understand our system straight away, but we do expect that you will be able to learn.
Our working environment is relaxed and informal with no stifling bureaucracy, or office politics. Our Application Support team is seeking bright and technically capable people who have a thirst for knowledge and aren't afraid to learn a range of technologies. Ideally, you are someone who has excellent communication skills, is self motivated, and works well as part of a team. Your day to day role will be varied and challenging as you work very closely with our clients to assist them in identifying and resolving application issues.
The Position
- Form and maintain close relationships with a small group of clients
- Understand and ensure timely resolution of client questions and problems
- Understand client priorities and manage expectations
- Learn complex applications across a range of technologies
- Develop and maintain skills to support new products and technologies
- Work with other departments to resolve client issues
- Assist with release note and system documentation preparation
- Provide onsite support as required
- Conduct occasional internal and external training sessions as required
- Attend various in house training sessions
The Candidate
- Excellent at identifying, describing and solving problems
- Highly motivated to perform work of a high standard
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time and task management skills
- Ability to self-learn through investigation.
- Previous experience in supporting proprietary software an advantage
- Calypso (or Travel wholesale) experience desirable
